GREENSBORO, N.C. –Virginia Tech sophomore pole vaulter Martina Schultze earned Women’s Performer of the Week honors, the conference office announced today.
Schultze had an outstanding week, winning two pole vault competitions within four days to move her winning streak to four since the ACC Outdoor Championships. After breaking her school record a week after ACCs, the Uhingen, Germany, native topped that mark last Wednesday at the Liberty Twilight with a vault of 14-3.25 (4.35m), a mark that ranks fifth nationally this season.
On Saturday, the sophomore won her second competition of the week at the Bob Pollock Invitational, coming up just over an inch shy of her record mark at 14-2 (4.32m). That vault would stand as the eighth best recorded this season in the NCAA.
This is Schultze’s second ACC Performer of the Week honor after garnering the accolade at the start of the outdoor season.
