Kruzliak named ACC Men's Performer of the Week
Freshman earns first career honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech’s Tomas Kruzliak has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Track and Field Performer of the Week, the conference office announced today.

After winning his first Atlantic Coast Conference gold medal in the hammer throw a week earlier by setting the nation’s top mark, Kruzliak took on former Virginia Tech national champions Marcel Lomnicky and Alexander Ziegler at last weekend’s Highlander Invitational. The freshman from Nitra, Slovakia, placed second behind Lomnicky, a 2012 Olympian, while narrowly besting Ziegler. In three competitions this season, Kruzliak has one once and placed second twice, both to Lomnicky. Kruzliak’s top throw of 69.69 meters on Saturday led all collegians and would have ranked fourth nationally if he had not already owned the top mark.

This is Kruzliak’s first selection as the conference's Performer of the Week. He is the third Hokie to garner the weekley honor this year.
