Ziegler named ACC Men's Indoor Performer of the Year
German native earns conference Field Performer of the Year for the third time

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech thrower Alexander Ziegler was named 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Indoor Field Performer of the Year as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.

Ziegler capped his career as a three-time national champion and seven-time All-American with his winning weight throw of 73-8.25 (22.46m) in last weekend’s NCAA Championships. The native of Germany claimed the national title on his third throw, a mark that stood pat through the final three rounds.The Virginia Tech senior had earlier starred at the ACC Indoor Championships, where his throw of 77-8.75 (23.69m) established a new meet record. This is Ziegler's third time being named Field Performer of the Year and first during the indoor season.
