GUANAJUATO, Mexico – Junior Darrell Wesh and recent Virginia Tech student-athlete Keith Ricks represented team USA at the 2012 NACAC U-23 Championships in Guanajuato, Mexico. Wesh claimed the top spot in the 4x100m relay while Ricks finished third in the 200m.
Wesh ran the first leg of the 4x100m relay, teaming up with Charles Silmon, Marcus Rowland and Keenan Brock to claim the gold for Team USA. The group ran a time of 38.94 in the event to finish ahead of teams from the Bahamas (39.65) and Jamaica (39.67).
In the 200m Ricks placed third with a time of 20.50 to claim the bronze for Team USA. Fellow USA team member Prezel Hardy placed second (20.4) with Canada’s Tremaine Harris taking the gold (20.22).
The championships are held between member associations of the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC). This year marked the seventh bi-annual championships.
