EUGENE, Ore. – Former and current Virginia Tech Track and Field athletes competed on Saturday during the second day of competition at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore.
Former Tech student-athletes Queen Harrison and Kristi Castlin competed in the semifinals of the women’s 100-meter hurdles. Harrison finished 10th overall with a time of 12.88 while Castlin was 12th overall with a time of 12.93. Both runners ran in the first heat with Harrison placing third and Castlin fourth. The duo finished just outside of advancing to the finals.
On the men’s side, Keith Ricks and Darrell Wesh competed in the 100-meter dash preliminaries. Ricks was just outside of the advancing top 21 times with a 22nd overall finish in a time of 10.41 placing fourth in first heat. Wesh was 31st overall and placed sixth in heat five with a time of 10.64.
In field events, Ronnie Black competed in the high jump, finishing 20th overall with a height of 2.10m (6-10.75).
Tech will have athletes back in competition on Thursday, June 28.
