EUGENE, Ore. – Former Virginia Tech student-athletes Queen Harrison and Kristi Castlin advanced out of the first round of the 100-meter hurdles on Friday at the 2012 U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore.
Both athletes finished third in their respective heats to advance with Castlin running in the fourth heat while Harrison ran in the fifth. Castlin’s time of 12.98 (12.977) was the 13th fastest time overall. Harrison finished just behind her with a time of 12.98 (12.979).
The two hurdlers advance to Saturday’s semifinals at 3:15 p.m. PT. The finals of the women’s 100-meter hurdles will also be held on Saturday during the evening session.
In addition, Tech has several former and current student-athletes competing on Saturday including Keith Ricks and Darrell Wesh in the men’s 100-meter preliminary at 4 p.m. PT and Ronnie Black in the high jump preliminary starting at 4:20 p.m. PT.
