GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech freshman Ciara Simms (Stockbridge, Ga.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Track & Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
On Saturday, Simms won the 100 meters at the Miami Hurricane Invitational in 11.68, which ranks fifth on Tech’s all-time performance list. She also finished tied for second in the 200 meters (23.96), good for No. 6 in Tech history and led off the winning 4x100m relay (45.81). Her 100 meter time currently ranks fourth in the NCAA East Region and her 200 meter time is tied for fifth.
The Hokies will compete at the University of Central Florida Invitational this weekend (March 23-24) at the UCF Track & Field Complex in Orlando, Fla.
