BLACKSBURG, Va. – Heading into the NCAA Championships, Virginia Tech men’s track has climbed back into the top ten, as they sit at No. 8 in the week nine USTFCCCA poll. A stellar showing at the NCAA East Regional helped the Hokies crack the top ten for the first time since the week six poll on May 10. This is their highest ranking since being placed at No. 7 in week four on April 26, following the ACC Championships.
The Hokies qualified 14 individuals in nine events, the third-highest total of anyone at the national meet. The bulk of their points will look to come from the field events, including a meet-best seven competitors in jumping events. Three will be competing in the hammer throw, including Marcel Lomnicky and Alexander Ziegler, who are ranked No. 1 and 2 in the nation. Three pole-vaulters will be led by Hunter Hall, who is ranked fifth nationally.
Events kick off in Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday June 8.
