TOWSON, Maryland - Virginia Tech women’s track and field athlete Kelly Phillips has been named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Women’s Track & Cross Country Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
A Blacksburg, Va., native, Phillips notched ACC All-Academic honors for the third time in her career earlier this year. The human nutrition, foods and exercise major cleared a season-best 13-01.50 in winning the pole vault competition at the Liberty Twilight meet in Lynchburg, Va. Phillips was qualifier for the NCAA East Regionals which were held in Greensboro, N.C.
Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
