BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Queen Harrison received Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Outdoor Track MVP honors, the conference announced on Friday, following her stellar performance at the ACC Championships on April 15-17 in Clemson, S.C.
Harrison captured the conference titles in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles last weekend. In the 400-meter hurdles, the Richmond, Va., native set a meet and facility record, running a time of 54.66, while she clocked a wind-aided 12.44 in the 100-meter hurdles.
Wednesday’s award is one of many the Hermitage High alum has won this year. She notched the ACC Women’s Indoor Track MVP accolade on March 6, after taking the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash crowns at the indoor conference meet, and earned ACC Women’s Track Performer of the Year on March 19, behind her 100-meter hurdle national championship, the first in Virginia Tech women’s track and field history. The United States Track and Field Coaches Association also honored Harrison, naming her the Southeast Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year on March 9.
The Hokies continue competition on Friday and Saturday with the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., where Harrison will compete in the 100-meter hurdles. A contingent of the Tech track and field squads will travel to High Point, N.C., for the Vertklasse Meet on Sunday. Results will be available on hokiesports.com.
