BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Queen Harrison won her third ACC Women’s Track and Field Performer of the Week honor of the year, the conference announced on Tuesday. Harrison won two weekly league awards during the indoor season on Jan 26 and Feb. 9.
At the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., last weekend, the Richmond, Va., native broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles, running a time of 12.65 to win the event on Friday. Harrison previously held the school record of 12.70, set in 2008.
Later in the day, the Hermitage High alum captured the 400-meter hurdles title with a time of 56.06. Both times stand as the top times in the nation, and the 100-meter hurdles mark currently ranks first in the world. Harrison also ran the opening leg the third-place 4x400-meter relay unit, which ran 3:33.15 and finished third overall. The quartet sits in fifth in the U.S.
The Hokies will compete in the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., this weekend before traveling to Clemson, S.C., for the ACC Outdoor Championships on April 15-17.
