FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Senior Yavgeniy Olhovsky highlighted the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday for the Virginia Tech track and field squads, recording an All-American performance in the men’s pole vault.

In his final indoor national meet, Olhovsky tied for fourth with a clearance of 17-06.50 to tally the fifth career All-America honor of his career. The Petah-Tikya, Israel, native ranks second in school history in men’s track and field with the five career All-America accolades, behind only Spyridon Jullien, who garnered seven in the throws events in his time at Tech. Juniors Hunter Hall and Jared Jodon also competed in the pole vault on Friday night for the Hokies. Hall, the 2010 ACC champion in the event, placed 13th with a height of 16-10.75, while Jodon failed to make a height.

Senior Igor Misljenovic just missed earning All-America honors in the men’s shot put. The Zagreb, Croatia, native, competing in his first national indoor meet, sat in eighth in the event heading into the finals, but Blake Eaton of Penn State tossed a 60-06 in his second-to-last throw to edge Misljenovic for eighth place. Misljenovic finished in ninth with a toss of 60-01.25.
