Harrison named to Bowerman Official Watch List
The Richmond, Va., native also captures ACC honor

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Queen Harrison earned ACC women’s track and field Performer of the Week honors for the second time this season, and also was named to the Bowerman Award Watch List on Tuesday, as announced by the conference and the USTFCCCA, respectively.

Harrison received the conference’s track and field Performer of the Week award for the second time this season. She was previously tabbed with the accolade on Jan. 26. The Richmond, Va., native was also added to the 2010 Women’s Bowerman Official Watch List, and is the only ACC representative on the official list, while two ACC athletes are receiving mention, including senior teammate Kristi Castlin.

At last weekend’s VT Elite Meet in Blacksburg, Va., Harrison became the first Hokie to run under eight seconds in the women’s 60-meter hurdles in school history. She clocked 7.99 seconds in the prelims of the event, and then ran 7.96 seconds in the finals to capture the 60-meter hurdle crown.

A day later, Harrison improved her school record and NCAA provisional mark in the 400-meters, clocking a 53.54 en route to a second victory in the weekend. She finished her weekend running the opening leg of the second-place 4x400-meter relay squad that provisionally qualified with a time of 3:39.81.

The Hokies will not compete this weekend, but return to Rector Field House on Feb. 19-20 for the Virginia Tech Challenge. Results will be available on hokiesports.com.
