Castlin receives mention in Bowerman Watch List
The senior is one of 15 athletes named to the prestigious list

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Kristi Castlin received mention on the 2010 Women’s Bowerman Official Preseason Watch List from the United States Track and Field Coaches Association on Thursday. Ten athletes earned a spot on the list, while five other athletes, including Castlin, received mention and will be considered for future official watch lists.

Castlin notched the fourth All-America accolade in her career with a third-place effort in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Championships and then added her fifth career All-America honor in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2009 national outdoor meet, placing second. The Douglasville, Ga., native also won the ACC championship in the 60-meter hurdles at last year’s indoor conference meet.

The Bowerman, an award bestowed to the nation’s top collegiate men’s and women’s track and field athlete, debuted in 2009. Castlin and the rest of the Virginia Tech track and field squads kick off the 2010 campaign with the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday. Results will be available on hokiesports.com.
