The Notebook

NEW YORK, N.Y. - At one of the most historic indoor track & field events in the world, three former Hokies, Kristi Castlin, Queen Harrison and Keith Ricks, took center stage on The Armory's straightaway in New York City.

Ricks was the first up, taking to the track in the NYH&RC Men's 60m Dash. The Suffolk, Va., native finished the sprint in third at 6.67, behind 2012 Olympic silver medalist Doc Patton, who won the race in 6.50, and Olympic 100-meter semifinalist Gerald Phiri, who was only three-hudredths of a second ahead of the former Hokie.

Just over a half hour later, two of the most decorated Hokies in program history took to the straightaway in the Fred Schmertz Women's 60m Hurdles. Castlin edged out her former Tech teammate for third place by clocking in at 8.00, while Harrison finished in 8.03. Yvette Lewis won the race with a time of 7.84, followed by Ginnie Crawford at 7.97.
