Responsibilities: White assists with student-athlete development core areas, including leadership development, community outreach, and career development. He oversees the Leadership Institute, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and the student assistance fund. Also performs oversight of Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving programs as well as serves on the University Committee on International Affairs. White helps to plan the department’s annual awards show, The Gobblers.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2007

Prior to Virginia Tech: Before coming to the athletics department, White worked as campus staff member with Athletes in Action on Tech’s campus.

Education: University of South Carolina, 2001 (B.S. in finance); Virginia Tech, 2008 (master’s in education). Is pursuing a Ph.D. at Tech (policy, governance and globalization).

Of Note: White is a former student-athlete and team captain at the University of South Carolina, where he participated in men’s swimming. He is a Boston Marathon qualifier and earned a Graduate Certificate from Virginia Tech in Collaborative Community Leadership. He was named a 2013-14 Favorite Faculty at Virginia Tech.

Personal: A native of Dallas, Texas, White currently lives in Blacksburg, with his wife, Meredith (Tech alum, Class of 2006) and their three children, Addison, William, and Amelia Joy.
