Eight-time NCAA All-American Sarah Stockwell-Gregson recently completed her second season as a senior assistant swim coach for the men’s and women’s programs and her sixth season overall at Virginia Tech.

As head coach Ned Skinner’s top assistant, Stockwell-Gregson has developed into one of the top coaches in the ACC and the profile of the H2Okies swimming and diving program has risen dramatically since her hiring.

Under Stockwell-Gregson’s tutelage, Virginia Tech saw two top five finishes at the ACC Championships, five individual conference champions, four All-American performances at NCAA Championships and five Honorable Mention All-American swims in 2016-17.

In 2015-16, the men went 11-0 in dual meets and spent most of the season ranked in the CSCAA top 25 polls. The women went 9-3 in dual meets on the season. Both the men’s and women’s teams were named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans during the fall semester. Both squads also finished in the top 25 at the NCAA Championships and in the top five at ACC Championships.

In 2014-15, Stockwell-Gregson helped Virginia Tech be the only ACC program to have its men’s and women’s teams finish in the top three at the ACC Championships. The women’s team improved from a fifth-place finish the year before. Combined, team had 26 members qualify for the NCAA Championships with 13 men and 13 women. Stockwell-Gregson helped coach two All-Americans and three honorable mention All-American performances at the NCAA Championships.

In 2013-14, she helped the men’s team win its first ACC title and both programs finished in the top 25 at the NCAA Championship.

Stockwell-Gregson helped the coaching staff at Virginia Tech produce three-consecutive top-25 finishes for both the men and women’s squads from 2011-14. She has coached six All-Americans and eight ACC champions and signed three top-20 recruiting classes.

In 2013, the men’s team placed second at the ACC Championship, and both squads took their largest contingent in school history to the NCAA Championship. Last season, the H2Okies men’s squad won the ACC Championship and finished in the top 20 at NCAAs for the third consecutive year.

Stockwell-Gregson joined the H2Okies from Indiana University, where she was a standout swimmer and is the former record holder for the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke as well as the 200-yard and 400-yard medley.

In addition to coaching, Stockwell-Gregson has also served as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant while earning her master's degree in kinesiology.
