Responsibilities: Smith provides design support for the sports programs at Virginia Tech as well as the online publication, HokieSports Weekly. Printed publications produced include the 2016 Football Media Guide, and event programs for football. He has also created the designs for both the football and men’s basketball tickets. In addition, Smith has used his illustration experience to create logos for English Field at Union Park, Hokie Village, and The Gobblers.

At Virginia Tech: Smith works on the graphic and web design team to help create visually impactful media for the Virginia Tech Athletics Department.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Smith worked for 10 years at The Roanoke Times as a graphic designer. In his position at The Roanoke Times, Smith was responsible for creating both print and digital products including newspaper advertising, multi-page publications, and animated online ads.

Of Note: Smith was the recipient of seven Virginia Press Association awards, in addition to having his artwork sold nationwide on t-shirt apparel websites.

Personal: Smith is a native of Christiansburg, Va. He and wife Ellie are the parents of their son, Landon.
