Responsibilities: Purnell handles all the medical coverage for the Virginia Tech women's soccer and softball programs.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2012

Prior to Virginia Tech: Purnell held a yearlong internship position with the Seattle Mariners baseball organization, and he worked with the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL, helping to meet the medical needs of players in both organizations during his respective times there.

Education: Salisbury University, 2009 (B.A. in athletic training); Virginia Tech, 2011 (master’s in health promotion) .

Personal: A native of Shelltown, Md., Purnell currently lives in Blacksburg and enjoys exercising and attending athletics events.
