Price’s role on staff includes responsibilities in regards to the Pat Mason Baseball Camps, assisting with the instructions of the infielders and hitters, helping with on-campus recruiting and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the program.

His first season with Tech saw two infielders he worked with – first baseman Brendon Hayden and second baseman Alex Perez – chosen in the 2015 MLB draft. Another, third baseman Erik Payne became the Hokies’ first Academic All-American (second team) in more than a decade.

He came to Blacksburg from a talented baseball family. His father Ritch Price is entering his 15th season as the head baseball coach at Kansas, and his 23rd season overall as a head coach. His older brothers, Ritchie and Ryan, both played Division I baseball and pro ball.

After playing for his father at Kansas, the Tampa Bay Rays selected Robby in the 13th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. He played five seasons of minor league baseball – almost 500 games – and rose as high as Triple-A in 2014, seeing action in 68 games with the Durham Bulls.

Price earned an economics degree from Kansas in 2011, and during his time in Lawrence, was a First Team All-Big 12 performer his senior season and helped the team to the 2009 NCAA Baseball Championship the previous year.

The former Jayhawk second baseman was also a three-time recipient of the John Trombold Golden Glove and set the school record for career runs scored (204) and also led the NCAA in 2008 in sacrifice bunts with 24.
