Athletic Performance
Responsibilities: Onyon assists the Director of Sports Nutrition with all nutrition and performance matters of varsity student-athletes. Responsibilities include team education, individual counseling, body composition analysis, training table menu development and supervising the Nutrition Oasis Fueling Station. Onyon has sport oversight of football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf and softball.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Before becoming a Hokie, Onyon served as a Registered Dietitian Fellow at Texas A&M (January 2016-July 2016), University at Buffalo Sports Nutritionist (August 2015-December 2015), and Cornell Sports Nutrition Intern (September 2012-May 2014)
Education: Cornell University (2014) B.S. Nutritional Sciences with a concentration in Dietetics, University of Buffalo (2015) M.S. Nutrition
Of Note: Onyon Pitched for Cornell Softball all four years (three year starting pitcher), National Fast-pitch Coaches Association D-1 All-America Scholar Athlete 2014, All Ivy League Softball Team 2012 (2nd team) and 2014 (honorable mention). She was the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week (May 1, 2012; March 24, 2014) and Cornell Softball Most Improved Player 2012; Best Defensive Player 2014. Onyon holds the Cornell record for most innings pitched in a single game, which was a 15 inning shut-out against Princeton. She closed her career ranked fifth in career strikeouts (389) and sixth in appearances (92), games started (72), complete games (49), innings pitched (512.1) and shut outs (10), and seventh in wins (40) in Big Red history. She is also a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association
Personal: Onyon grew up in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and loves playing and watching sports (especially the Yankees), traveling and trying new recipes.
