Responsibilities: Though he has worked with all sports at Virginia Tech, Mitchell currently oversees the strength and conditioning programs for all of Tech’s Olympic sports. He is primarily responsible for the strength and conditioning programs in baseball, wrestling and men’s and women’s swimming.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Mitchell worked in the private sector as a strength coach before coming to Tech.

Of Note: Mitchell enjoys competing in powerlifting meets and set the national drug-free bench press record at the 2006 AAPF Nationals with a 529-pound lift while competing in the 220-pound class.
Personal: A native of Williamsburg, Va., Mitchell lives in Christiansburg, Va. with his wife, Terri Thompson Mitchell, who is the associate vice president for administration and controller for the Virginia Tech Foundation. They have a son, Kellen Christopher, and a daughter, Darby Lane.
