Justin Miller is in his fourth season as assistant softball coach at Virginia Tech where he has built a reputation as a staunch recruiter while also working with hitters and outfielders.

In his first season at Tech in 2015, his hitters broke the school record for home runs in a season with 65. That total included a school-record 17 from Kelsey Mericka. Additionally, two players earned all-region for their seasons at the plate as the Hokies won 34 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to joining the Hokies coaching staff, Miller spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Presbyterian. Miller helped the program to an historic win at the Big South Conference tournament, the first in program history. His expertise produced the team's highest on-base percentage and most RBIs in a season since 2008, as several players earned all-conference honors.

Miller joined the Blue Hose after serving as assistant coach at Akron University. There he worked with the baseball program and coached outfielders, catchers and assisted with hitters.

Prior to Akron, Miller was at The Ohio State University and coached position players, specializing in working with the catchers. Miller has also worked various baseball and softball camps and has done private instruction.

A two-time team captain of the baseball team at Ohio State, Miller helped lead the Buckeyes to a Big Ten tournament title in 2007 and a Big Ten regular season crown in 2009. Miller, a two-time all-conference selection, was twice nominated for the Wallace Award and is still listed in several categories in Ohio State record books, including second in career hits (268) and third in career at bats (799), doubles (52) and RBIs (176). He hit .395 as a junior with 61 RBIs and finished his distinguished career with a batting average of .335.

A native of Dayton, Virginia, Miller graduated from Turner-Ashby High School before graduating from Ohio State University in 2009 with a degree in sociology. He is married to the former Mallory Mayhew.
