Responsibilities: McCloskey serves as the sport administrator for football, women's basketball, women’s soccer and lacrosse. She also oversees the areas of strength and conditioning, sports medicine and the equipment room. She oversees housing for athletics, and she serves as the liaison between the athletics department and the admissions office on campus. She specifically handles admissions issues for the sports in which she is responsible for within the department. As the SWA, she attends monthly meetings for all the SWA’s within the ACC. She also coordinates all ticket requests for university and athletics department employees at the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament.

At Virginia Tech: McCloskey started working at Tech in 1984 as the football office receptionist and recruiting secretary, a position she held for four years. In 1988, she became the first woman in college athletics (Division I) to hold the position of recruiting coordinator, and she also was named the senior woman administrator. In 1992, she became an assistant athletics director, and in 1995, moved into the role of senior associate athletics director. Following Dave Braine’s departure in 1997, she was the interim AD until the university hired Jim Weaver.
Prior to Virginia Tech: McCloskey worked at a local bank after graduating from Tech in 1979, and she worked there several years before moving into the athletics department.

Of Note: As recruiting coordinator, McCloskey proved to be one of the most innovative people in the field. She completely reorganized the schedule for official recruiting visits by making academics the highlight of the visit. All aspects of university life were included in the visit for the prospective student-athlete. She lined up various meetings with professors and department heads and key figures on campus.
McCloskey also has served or is serving on a number of ACC-related committees, including all women’s basketball committees and a women’s soccer committee. In the past, she was on the league’s men’s soccer committee.
In addition, she served as tournament manager for the first two rounds of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship in 1999 and again in 2004, and she coordinated the 2009 ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championships held at Thompson Field.
McCloskey continues to coordinate game-day arrangement for football officials traveling to Blacksburg for football games. This entails finding hotel rooms, arranging police escorts for game-day transportation and ordering pregame and postgame food for the officials.
Personal: A native of Falls Church, Va., McCloskey lives in Blacksburg, and she spends most of her free time at her home on Claytor Lake.
