Responsibilities: Brugger McSorley assists with the administration of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), and university rules governance structure as it relates to Virginia Tech athletics. Her specific areas of focus include: recruiting, initial eligibility, awards and benefits, play and practice seasons, and camps and clinics. She also oversees Title IX compliance for the athletics department.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Brugger McSorley worked in the James Madison athletics department before coming to Tech. She served as an interim associate AD, and prior to that worked as the assistant director of sports medicine at JMU. Before her tenure at JMU, she served as the assistant athletic trainer/senior woman administrator at VMI.
Education: Penn State University, 1996 (B.S. in exercise and sport science); West Virginia University, 1999 (master’s in athletic training).
Of Note: Brugger McSorley is certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification (NATA-BOC). She holds memberships in National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA), the National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC), the Virginia Athletic Trainer’s Association (VATA) and the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA).
Personal: A native of Erie, Pa., she is married to Patrick McSorley, an assistant men’s soccer coach at Virginia Tech. The couple has three children (Morgan, Addison and Connor).
