BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech offense plated 11 runs and all available players saw the field in the Hokies’ 11-0 victory over Hampton on Wednesday in the regular season finale at Tech Softball Park.

The Pirates (20-25) were held to three hits in a combined shutout between sophomore Carrie Eberle, freshman Jordan Dail and freshman Keely Rochard. Eberle earned her 11th win of the season for the Hokies (22-29).

At the plate, Eberle, junior Emma Strouth, junior Sierra Walton and sophomore Dani Hugney each registered multi-hit games. Junior Molly Stephenson came off the bench to register her first career hit and for the second time in three games Virginia Tech hit four home runs as a team.

The Hokies put four runs up on the board in first on a two-run home run from Strouth, an RBI single from junior Caitlyn Nolan and an RBI double from junior Olivia Lattin. Tech made it 7-0 in the second on another two-run blast, this time off the bat of Eberle, and a solo shot from Walton, the first of her Virginia Tech career.

The Hokies’ fourth home run of the day came off the bat of Clark in the third that made it 8-0. Later in the inning, senior Breanna Davenport scored on an error by the center fielder that extended Tech’s lead to 9-0. The last of the scoring came on an RBI single from sophomore Hannah Jones and an error on the right fielder that allowed Stephenson to come all the around to score.

Virginia Tech’s season could continue if Florida State wins their series at NC State this weekend. If the Wolfpack were to take at least two out of three from the Seminoles, they would earn the 10th and final seed to the ACC Softball Championship in Atlanta.
