BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech welcomes Hampton on Wednesday for a single 5 p.m. contest at Tech Softball Park that will wrap up the Hokies’ 2018 home schedule. The game will be streamed live on ACC Network EXTRA via the WatchESPN platform.
The Hokies (21-29, 7-16 ACC) are still in contention to qualify for next week’s ACC Softball Championship in Atlanta. NC State will need to win its series against Florida State this weekend in Raleigh to snag the final seed from the Hokies.
Tech is coming off a 1-2 road trip at Georgia Tech that featured a 5-1 victory in Saturday’s game. The Hokies hit four home runs, a season high, off the bats of sophomore Carrie Eberle, junior Olivia Lattin, senior Jessie Mehr and sophomore Taylor Clark. Freshman Keely Rochard struck out six and allowed one run and three hits in a complete game effort to earn the win in the circle.
Hampton is 1-5 all-time against the Hokies. The two teams last met on April 3, 2016 when Tech swept a doubleheader at Tech Softball Park.
