Hokies set to face UVA in the Commonwealth Clash

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech heads to Charlottesville this weekend where the Hokies will take on Virginia in a three-game series from April 13-15. The series is a part of the Commonwealth Clash presented by Virginia529.

The final game of the series on Sunday will streamed on ACC Network EXTRA via the WatchESPN platform. Live stats will be available on HokieSports.com.

The Hokies (16-24, 2-12 ACC) went 1-1 during the week with a 1-0 win over perennial Big South power Liberty and a 4-3 loss at Radford. Tech looks to get back on track in ACC play where it dropped three games last week at North Carolina, including two one-run ball games.

Virginia Tech is 37-22 all-time against the Cavaliers and its won eight of the last 10 meetings. The ‘Hoos are 9-15 in games played against the Hokies in Charlottesville. The Hokies are currently leading 7.5-6.5 in the Commonwealth Clash with one point on the line this weekend.

EBERLE DOES IT ALL

  • Sophomore Carrie Eberle’s versatility has been on display for the Hokies all season and even more so in recent weeks.
  • With a 1.66 ERA and four home runs, she’s the only player in the ACC to lead her team in both categories.
  • Eberle’s ERA ranks third in the conference and her .186 opponent’s batting average ranks .186.
  • -berle’s hitting .412 (7 for 17) in the early goings of April while sporting a 1.27 ERA in the circle.

NOLAN HEATING UP IN APRIL

  • Junior Caitlyn Nolan has gotten off to a strong start in April where she’s hitting .333 with two home runs and nine RBI.
  • She’s registered three multi-hit games thus far this month including two in the doubleheader against Charlotte on April 4.
  • Nolan’s solo home run, her third of the season, at North Carolina gave the Hokies a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth.
