Hokies set for games against Liberty, Radford

BLACKSUBRG – Following a weekend series on the road at North Carolina, the Virginia Tech softball team will play host to Liberty on Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET and play at Radford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The game against the Lady Flames was moved up to 5 p.m. due to a poor weather forecast projection. The contest will be streamed on ACC Network EXTRA with Evan Hughes on the call.

The Hokies (15-23, 2-12 ACC) are coming off a three-game skid to the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. Two of the three games were a one-run setback, including a walk-off in extra innings in Game 3 of the series.

Junior Caitlyn Nolan racked up six hits, including two home runs, six RBI and seven assists last week against Charlotte and North Carolina. The junior owned a .333 batting average and .722 slugging percentage over the five games.

Liberty enters Tuesday’s affair with a 30-10 overall record and 10-2 reading in Big South play, having lost its last series against Longwood. The Hokies are 35-14 all time against the Flames. The two teams last squared off on April 18, 2017. Tech is 16-3 against Liberty at Tech Softball Park.

Radford is 20-13, 5-4 in league play coming into Wednesday’s clash, defeating Virginia and winning the series against Campbell last week. Tech is 40-12 in the all-time series, and the two squads faced off earlier this season in Blacksburg, a 4-0 Radford win on Feb. 28. The Hokies are 12-4 on the road against the Highlanders.
