Game Notes
BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech will hit the road on Tuesday for a midweek doubleheader against Longwood beginning at 4 p.m. in Farmville. Both games of the twin bill will be carried on BigSouthSports.com and WatchESPN.
The Hokies (11-17, 1-7 ACC) look to snap a five-game losing skid. Tech continues to see strong performances in the circle where, most recently, freshman pitcher Jordan Dail is coming off of a 13-strikeout performance in the night cap of Friday’s doubleheader against Pitt. Sophomore Carrie Eberle, who ranks fifth in the ACC with a 1.66 ERA, allowed only three earned runs in the first game against the Panthers.
The all-time series between the Hokies and the Lancers is currently tied at 11-11. The series is also knotted up in games played in Farmville, 5-5. The Lancers have won three of the last five meetings in the series, including a 6-4 win in eight innings in the 2015 NCAA Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Hokies return to action at Tech Softball Park this weekend for a three-game series with Notre Dame, beginning with a 7 p.m. game on Friday and concluding with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
