Hokies travel to Tallahassee to take on Florida State

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech softball team hits the road this weekend where it will face No. 15 Florida State from March 16-19 in Tallahassee. Live stats and radio broadcast links can be found on the softball schedule page on HokieSports.com.
The Hokies (11-12, 1-2 ACC) are coming off of a 2-1 win in the final game of its three game set with Syracuse. Sophomore Carrie Eberle allowed only one run in a complete game effort and junior Emma Strouth connected on her second home run of the season in the victory.
INSIDE THE SERIES
• Florida State has won the last 10 meetings in the series.
• The Hokies’ last win over the Seminoles was a 5-4 on March 11, 2014 in Fort Myers, Fla.
• The Hokies are 6-10 all-time in Tallahassee, their last victory was a 4-3 extra innings victory on April 3, 2011.
EBERLE’S STRONG START
• Sophomore Carrie Eberle continued her strong start to her sophomore campaign this past weekend against Syracuse where he went 1-1 in two complete game efforts.
• She allowed only three earned runs in 14.0 innings of work.
• In the ACC, Eberle ranks third with a 1.19 ERA and a .157 opponent’s batting average.
TECH SOFTBALL PARK TURNS 20
• This season marks the 20th anniversary of the first season of Tech Softball Park.
• TSP was completed in the fall of 1997 and hosted its first game on March 25, 1998, an 8-6 win in extra innings over Charlotte.
• Tech Softball Park successfully hosted its first ACC Championship in 2010 and hosted it again in 2015.
• The largest crowd in the history of Tech Softball Park came on April 20, 2013 when 2,251 packed in to see the Hokies take on Florida State.
