Weather pushes Hokies' season opener up to Thursday

Tech will face Lamar and Florida A&M to open the 2018 season

BLACKSBURG – Due to poor weather approaching Gulf Shores, Ala., this weekend, Virginia Tech will now open the Sand Dollar Classic and the 2018 season on Thursday evening. The Hokies will leave campus tomorrow morning.

Tech was originally supposed to start the season on Friday but will now face Ole Miss at 5 p.m. EST on Thursday followed by its second game of the day against Lamar at 8 p.m. The rest of the weekend schedule is still to be determined.
