GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following two shutout wins at Georgia Tech, senior Maggie Tyler has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, while Florida State’s redshirt junior, Alex Powers earned the player of the week honor, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

After her first no-hitter last weekend against Pitt, Tyler threw two complete-game, one-hit shutouts on Friday night and Saturday morning. Friday’s gem featured 12 strikeouts with a mere two walks and a hit by Georgia Tech’s designated player.

Tyler’s momentum continued into the second game of the series with nine strikeouts and a lone hit in the sixth inning just as rain began to pour. She tossed two complete game shutouts before a solo shot in her third appearance of the weekend to end her shutout line.

Powers excelled at the plate and in the field as the Seminoles swept North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Powers batted .667 on the weekend with a home run, six RBI and five runs scored as Florida State extended its NCAA-leading winning streak to 21 games. The Melbourne, Florida, native posted a .917 slugging percentage and had an on-base percentage of .667 as she added two walks and two stolen bases without recording a strikeout. Powers had multiple hits in all three games, including three hits in both games of Saturday's doubleheader. She was also perfect in the field, committing zero errors in 26 defensive chances at first base.

Tyler and the Hokies return to Tech Softball Park on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. doubleheader versus Liberty.
