McGoldrick named first-team All-ACC
Liddle earns third all-conference honor in stellar career
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (hokiesports.com) - A pair of Virginia Tech softball players were honored for their play this year, being named all-conference Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Kylie McGoldrick (first team) and senior Courtney Liddle (second team) were both named to the All-ACC team, as voted on by the coaches.

McGoldrick, a second baseman from Stratford, N.J., leads the Hokies with 10 home runs and is second in both batting average (.368), RBIs (29) and doubles (13). In ACC play, she hit .371 with six home runs, seven doubles and 15 RBIs.

Liddle, from Haymarket, Va., becomes Tech’s third three-time All-ACC performer, joining Angela Tincher and Charisse Mariconda. She has played both first base and catcher this season and leads Tech with a .377 batting average, 13 doubles, 36 RBIs and 39 walks. She also has six home runs. In ACC play, she hit .321 with four home runs and 17 RBIs. She was named first team All-ACC as both a sophomore and junior.

Tech, the No. 6 seed in the ACC Championship, will play third-seeded Maryland Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the first round. The game will be played at Florida State’s JoAnne Graf Field here in Tallahassee. It can be seen on the ACC’s regional sports networks and on ESPN3, an online-only broadcast, outside the ACC footprint.
