CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (hokiesports.com) - The Virginia Tech softball team broke out the bats, picking up 13 hits, in an 11-3, five-inning victory over Boston College Sunday at Shea Field to complete the three-game sweep.

Dani Anderson led the way with four hits, driving in the first run in the first inning with a single and then driving in the second run with a solo home run in the third inning. Tech then scored four runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth stanza to put it away.

In the fourth, Lauren Gaskill lifted a sacrifice fly to left field before Courtney Liddle, Kylie McGoldrick and Anderson all singled home runs. The Eagles got two of those runs back in their half of the fourth, but Tech exploded in the fifth inning to make up for those runs.

Kat Banks doubled in a pair of runs and then McGoldrick blasted a three-run home run to cap the inning. BC got a run in the fifth, but two strikeouts ended the threat and the game due to the mercy rule.

Anderson had four hits and three RBIs while Courtney Liddle, McGoldrick (4 RBIs), Banks (2 RBIs) and Bailey Liddle each had two hits. Bkaye Smith also had a hit.

Jasmin Harrell (W, 12-6) went four-plus innings, allowing three runs on two hits with two walks, three hits batters and two strikeouts. Kelly Heinz got the last three outs, giving up two hits, but picking up two strikeouts.

Tech improves to 27-10, 6-5 in the ACC while BC falls to 10-26, 1-11 in the league.

McGoldrick went 7-for-11 (.636) for the weekend series with two doubles, two home runs and six RBIs while Anderson went 5-for-9 (.556) with two home runs and four RBIs.

Tech will return home to Blacksburg for a non-conference doubleheader against Longwood Wednesday starting at 5 p.m.
