Tech ships up to Boston for ACC series
Hokies and BC to play three games at Shea Field

BLACKSBURG (hokiesports.com) - The Virginia Tech softball team will head north to take on Boston College this weekend in a three-game series at Shea Field in Chestnut Hill. The two teams will play the doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and will play the single game on Sunday at noon.

The Eagles enter this weekend’s series with a record of 10-23, 1-8 in the ACC. This will be BC’s first home conference series. The Eagles are 0-2 at home, playing their first home contests this week.

Boston College hits .265 as a team, but does have 33 home runs. Tori Speer leads the offensive attack with a .366 average and nine home runs. Alana Dimaso is hitting .317 with seven home runs while Megan Cooley is hitting .315 with 14 stolen bases. No other regular starter hits over .260.

In the circle, BC sports a staff ERA of 6.60 and has given up five or more runs 21 times in 33 games thus far. Three pitchers have seen a fairly equal share of the innings, led by Chelsea Dimon. Dimon is 8-9 with a 6.16 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 80.2 innings. Stephanie Lord is 0-6 with a 6.69 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 74.1 innings and Andrea Filler is 2-8 with a 7.19 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 49.2 innings pitched.

Tech has an NCAA RPI of 24th while Boston College’s RPI is 180th.
