Liddle named first team All-ACC for second straight year
Freshman Gaskill named to second team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - A pair of Virginia Tech softball players were honored for their play this year, being named all-conference Thursday morning. Junior Courtney Liddle (first team) and freshman Lauren Gaskill (second team) were both named to the All-ACC team, as voted on by the coaches.

Liddle, from Haymarket, Va., made the first team for the second consecutive season after batting .312 for the year with eight doubles, eight home runs and 32 RBIs. She has also drawn 44 walks on the season.

Gaskill, a center fielder from Mount Holly, N.J., is hitting .305 with 13 doubles, six home runs and a team-leading 22 stolen bases. She hit .353 in ACC play with nine of her doubles coming in conference games.

Tech, the No. 4 seed in the ACC Championship, will play fifth-seeded Maryland tonight in the first round at 7:30 p.m. The game will be played at North Carolina’s Anderson Field here in Chapel Hill. It can be seen on ESPN3, an online-only broadcast, at this link.
