In the first game, Georgia Tech used three home runs to roll to the 5-0 win. After cruising through three innings, Hokie starter Jasmin Harrell ran into trouble in the fourth inning, giving up a solo home run to Kelsi Weseman to lead off the inning before giving up two singles and a three-run home run to Hope Rush, making it 4-0 and forcing a pitching change for the Hokies.

Weseman struck again in the fifth inning with a solo home run to make it 5-0.

Virginia Tech struggled at the plate against Rush, picking up just two hits, a single from Logan Spaw and a double from Lauren Gaskill. Tech did draw five walks, including three from Courtney Liddle.

Harrell (L, 24-12) went three-plus innings, giving up four earned runs on five hits with three hits. The two scoring plays for the Jackets were home runs. Isabella Corrao pitched the final three innings, allowing a run on two hits with three walks and a strikeout.

In the second game, Gaskill started the game off with a home run off the scoreboard in left field to give the Hokies a quick lead. After getting out of several jams, Harrell gave up another home run, this time in the fourth inning, a solo shot to Shannon Bear to tie the game up at 1-1.

In the fifth inning, Gaskill singled up the middle and came home the easy way as freshman Kylie McGoldrick hit her fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to center field. The Hokies tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh inning when Liddle crushed a two-run home run down the line, her eighth of the season, to make it 5-1. The Jackets scored a run in the seventh, but Harrell got a strikeout to end the game.

Liddle and Gaskill led the way with a pair of hits each while McGoldrick, Kelsey Mericka, Dani Anderson, Betty Rose and Spaw each had one.

After struggling early, Harrell shut down the Jackets late to move to 25-12 on the season. She went the distance, allowing two runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Virginia Tech (36-17, 12-7 ACC) and Georgia Tech (32-21, 11-8 ACC) will wrap up the series on Sunday with a single game at 1 p.m. The winner of the game will win the series and claim the No. 3 seed at the upcoming ACC Tournament.
