GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State freshman shortstop Renada Davis and Virginia Tech junior pitcher Jasmin Harrell have been named the ACC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Davis hit .473 as the Wolfpack went 4-2 last week. The Tomball, Texas., native tallied nine RBIs on nine hits and connected on two home runs. She posted an on-base percentage of .522 and had a slugging percentage of .842. Against Longwood, she hit a ball that bounced off of the top of wall to drive in the winning run, and had five RBIs in one inning against NC Central.
Harrell won all three of her starts and added a save as the Hokies went 4-1 at the Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla. She allowed only one earned run in 22.1 innings while striking out 13 batters and only walking three. The native of Irvine, Calif., tossed back-to-back complete-game shutouts against Pittsburgh and Notre Dame for the first time in her career.
