AUBURN, Ala. - Despite a valiant effort in the circle from Jasmin Harrell, the Virginia Tech softball team fell to Auburn 1-0 on the final day of the ACC/Big 12/SEC Challenge.
Auburn got its lone run in the fourth inning when Lauren Guzman singled, moved to second base on a wild pitch, to third base on a ground out and came home when Elizabeth Eisterhold checked her swing and hit the ball about 6 feet down the third base line, allowing Guzman to score as the ball died in the wet dirt.
The Hokies got nothing going at the plate as they were no-hit by Angel Bunner, who struck out seven. Harrell (L, 4-2) pitched all six innings, allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts.
Tech (7-3) will be back in action next weekend at the C of C Cougar Invitational in Charleston, S.C.
