BLACKSBURG - A pair of Virginia Tech softball players were honored for their play this year, being named all-conference Friday morning. Senior Misty Hall and junior Richelle McGarva were both named to the ACC’s second team, as voted on by the coaches.

McGarva, from Surrey, Canada, hit .291 on the year with 31 RBI. She led the Hokies with 13 doubles and also stole 14 bases. In conference play, she hit .290 with four home runs and 12 RBI. She started the season as the center fielder, but two shoulder injuries forced her to the designated player role for the latter part of the season.

Hall shook off a slow start and several injuries to finish strong and earn all-conference honors. The Dayton, Virginia, native hit .279 with 10 home runs and a team-leading 33 RBI. She also was hit a school-record 12 times and drew 15 walks. In conference play, she hit .280 with seven home runs and 16 RBI.

Tech, the No. 7 seed in the ACC Championship, will play second-seeded Virginia today in the first round at 2:30 p.m. The game will be played at Tech Softball Park.
