BLACKSBURG - The 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championship will take place at Tech Softball Park starting Friday, May 14 and running through Sunday, May 16 on the campus of Virginia Tech. With Tech’s graduation ceremonies taking place Friday and Saturday, below is some information dealing with the tournament.

What: ACC Softball Championship

Defending Champion: Georgia Tech

Dates: Friday, May 14 thru Sunday, May 16; single-elimination tournament

Times: Friday: noon, 2:30, 5:00 and 7:30 p.m.; Saturday: 1:00 and 3:30 p.m.; Sunday: 1:00 p.m.

Where: Tech Softball Park (capacity: 1,024) across the street from Lane Stadium on Spring Road

Prices: $5 for adults and $3 for students and youth (18 & under) each day; no pre sale tickets, only available the day of the game

Entrance: The only entrance for fans will be on Spring Road by the third base line foul pole. Wristbands will be handed out to fans when they come into the park.

Parking: Virginia Tech’s main graduation will take place Friday night in Lane Stadium, so the Cassell Coliseum lot, as well as the South End Zone lot will be closed. The softball/track lot and the “Chicken Hill” lot are the best bets. All day Saturday, graduation ceremonies will take place around campus and in Cassell Coliseum. The Cassell Coliseum lot will still be closed, but the South End Zone lot will be open, to go along with the softball/track lot and the “Chicken Hill” lot. For Sunday, all lots are open and parking shouldn’t be a problem as campus should be cleared out. Fans are asked to arrive early and to be prepared to walk longer-than-normal distances on Friday and Saturday.

Seating: There are no reserved seats for the event. In the first round, the higher seed will be the home team and will occupy the third base dugout. The home team will be in the third base dugout all weekend and the visitors will be in the first base dugout all weekend.

Broadcast:
ACC Select will have live, free coverage of the first two days on the Internet. The conference’s regional sports network will have Sunday’s championship live on television.

Live stats: Live stats, along with more tournament information can be found at the ACC's Official Championship Page.
