Lelani Bernardino led off the game with a sharp single and two batters later, Leigh Rowan poked a two-run shot to left-center field to make it 2-0. That would be all the scoring as neither team had serious threats the rest of the way.
Tech’s bats went silent as the Hokies picked up just three hits, two singles from Bkaye Smith and one from Whitney Davis. Kristin Graham drew two walks.
Jasmin Harrell (L, 5-3) got the start, but lasted just over an inning before being pulled. She gave up two runs on four hits before being relieved by Kenzie Roark. Roark pitched the final six innings, allowing no runs on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
Tech will return to action next weekend in Boca Raton, Fla., opening up the Florida Atlantic University Tournament with a game against Iowa Friday evening, followed by a contest with Charleston Southern.
