Tech’s Jasmin Harrell was cruising in the circle until she hit a bumpy fourth inning. A leadoff single and a towering two-run home run quickly made it 2-0.
The Hokies remained cold at the plate, picking up just four hits in being held to two runs or less for the sixth time in the last seven games. Misty Hall, Ashton Ward, Whitney Davis and Richelle McGarva had the only hits in the game.
Harrell (L, 3-2) went the distance, allowing two runs on eight hits with no walks or strikeouts in a 75-pitch effort.
Tech (4-8) will try again later Saturday, taking on Illinois at 6:30 p.m.
