Scoreless in the third inning, Davis drew a walk and moved to third on Liddle’s double to right field. An error on the throw in allowed Davis to score to give Tech a 1-0 lead. Tech had a chance to add to its lead in the fourth inning when Smith tried to score from second base on a single by Davis, but a perfect strike from right field got her at the plate. But Davis got payback in the sixth, gunning down a runner of her own to keep the Hokies’ lead at one.
In the bottom of the seventh, UNCG pinch hitter Katie Stripling deposited a two-out delivery from Roark over the left field wall to tie it up and send the game to extra innings. In the eighth, Graham singled up the middle with two outs to score pinch runner Sarah Ashby, but in the bottom of the inning, the Spartans scored on a Hokie error to tie it back up. Tech finally broke it open in the 10th inning. Hall drew a bases-loaded hit by pitch and then Graham drove in two with a sharp single up the middle. A pinch hit, two-RBI single by Marra Hvozdovic made it 7-2. Davis then drove in a run with a single to right to make it 8-2.
