Hokies conclude fall season with four wins
Spots still available for December clinics

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech softball team wrapped up its fall exhibition schedule this past weekend by winning four games at home. Tech wraps up the fall slate at 6-2 and will now start preparing for the regular season, which starts in February.

On Saturday, the Hokies scored 21 runs in beating Limestone and Liberty. In the first game, Whitney Davis and Courtney Liddle had home runs as the Hokies beat Limestone 9-0 in five innings. Kenzie Roark had a no-hitter through four innings and then freshman Jasmin Harrell pitched the last inning. Against Liberty, Marra Hvozdovic had a home run and Ashton Ward picked up the win as Tech won 12-3 in five innings.

On Sunday, Tech beat Limestone 9-1 in five innings and then concluded with a 6-0 win over Liberty. In the first game, Hvozdovic went deep again as Tech rolled over the Saints. Bkaye Smith had two hits and two stolen bases while Ward had two RBI, Liddle had two hits and two RBI and Stephanie Kujawa had two RBI. Ward went three shutout innings, although she walked five, she gave up just one hit and Abbie Rexrode pitched the final two innings.

Against Liberty, Kristin Graham and Kristen Froehlich each had a home run in the shutout win. Roark went the distance, allowing just three hits while striking out five. Smith and Kristina Cruz each had two hits with Ward and Sarah Ashby each picking up a stolen base.

Tech will begin its regular season on Feb. 12, 2010 against Drexel in Jacksonville, Fla.
