Tech got its first hit of the contest in the bottom of the third inning. Freshman Kristen Froehlich tallied a base-hit to right field after working the count to three-and-two. Senior Jenna Rhodes laid down a bunt to the left side, giving the Hokies runners on first and second with only one out. Tech threatened in the bottom of the sixth. Mariconda reached on a fielders choice in the inning, stole second and claimed third base on a Broncos wild pitch, but did not score in the inning. The two teams headed into the seventh inning tied 0-0
In the bottom of the seventh inning with one out, Hvozdovic stepped to the plate. The freshman, who hit her first career homerun against Illinois-Chicago on Saturday evening, connected on a pitch and hit her second homerun in as many days, giving Tech a 1-0 win.
