Lacrosse

Feb. 10 | Blacksburg, Va.
12 p.m. - #8 Southern California

The Hokies open the season against No. 8 Southern California after finishing 11-8 last season. Those 11 wins were the most by Virginia Tech Lacrosse since 1999. It was also the first two-win ACC season in program history. Tech returns two captains (Meagh Graham and Tristan McGinley) who each set program records in 2017. Men’s Tennis

5 p.m. – Richmond

The Hokies look to continue their home spread with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 10 with Tech facing St. Bonaventure at 1:30 p.m. followed by Richmond at 5 p.m. at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Tech is 16-0 all-time against St. Bonaventure and 40-4 all-time versus Richmond. The Hokies are on a three-match win streak. [Full Preview]

Women’s Basketball

Tech returns home following road wins over Syracuse and North Carolina to host Virginia at 2 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum. Regan Magarity notched her 12th double-double of the season against Carolina, the most of any player in the ACC. The Hokies lost their first matchup in Charlottesville 52-61 behind Taylor Emery’s 18 points and will look to improve to 11-48 all-time against UVA.

*Promo – The game is a maroon out. Fans are encouraged to purchase the official “Maroon-Out” t-shirt from the University Bookstore. Youth league basketball teams are invited to attend the game for free, with prior registration.

Track & Field

Feb. 9-10 | All Day

Tiger Paw Invitational (Clemson, S.C)

Tyson Invitational (Fayetteville, Ark.)

Music City Challenge (Nashville, Tenn.)

No. 9 track and field will split up once again this weekend, participating at three meets. The Hokies will compete against a combined 29 ranked teams on both of the men and women’s sides. At the Tiger Paw Invitational on the campus of Clemson at the Clemson is where the sprints/hurdles and multi-events/jumps and select throwers will be. The Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt, will be where the distance group goes, and the pole vault group will head to Arkansas for the Tyson Invitational. The last time out, the Hokies split up and went to three meets, including the Akron, Camel City and Rod McCravy invites. Sophomore Sara Freix and redshirt sophomore Jack Joyce both placed first in the 3,000 meters on Feb. 2 and sixteen top-five finishes on Feb. 3 headlined Week 4 of the season. [Full Preview]

The Virginia Tech softball team will head to Gulf Shores, Al. to kickoff their season in the Sand Dollar Classic. The tournament will begin on Thursday as the team is set to face five teams over the course of the weekend. On Friday, they will compete against Florida A&M at 11 a.m., followed by Penn State. The tournament will end with a matchup against No. 11 Alabama on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Hokies were picked to finish second in the Coastal Division and seventh overall in the ACC. [Full Preview]

Women’s Tennis

Tech is set to take the road for the first time this spring as they travel to Marshall for a 4 p.m. match on Friday, Feb. 9. Virginia Tech leads Marshall 14-9 all-time, coming off a loss in last season’s matchup. [Full Preview]

Wrestling

No. 9 Hokies take to the road to face Virginia at 1 p.m. in Charlottesville following a 21-9 win over No. 25 North Carolina. The match has the potential for one ranked bout as Tech’s No. 18 Dennis Gustafson takes on No. 9 Jack Mueller at 133. Redshirt junior Ryan Blees was named ACC Wrestler of the Week for the second consecutive week after upsetting No. 6 Troy Heilmann of the Tarheels.

Men’s Basketball

Tech heads out on the road to face rival No. 2 Virginia in the Commonwealth Clash. The Hokies are coming off a 10-point home win against NC State. Junior Justin Robinson set a new career-high with 32 points in the win over the Wolfpack. His 32 points were the most scored by a Hokie this season. Following Villanova’s loss on Wednesday night, the Cavaliers are playing for a potential shot at moving to No.1 in the Associated Press poll next week. College Gameday will be present for the matchup.
