BLACKSBURG - The Hokie Club invites Virginia Tech alumni and fans living in the commonwealth of Virginia to participate in a new membership initiative to show the strength of Hokie Nation in our HOME state.

Announced on Friday evening after the Hokies’ 10-0 win over rival Virginia, the 14th straight Commonwealth Cup victory for the Virginia Tech, the Paint OUR State initiative encourages all Hokie supporters to join the Drive for 25 and paint Virginia maroon and orange.

Any new donor in Virginia who joins the Hokie Club between now and Dec. 1 will receive a commemorative gift of appreciation from former head football coach Frank Beamer.

JOIN THE DRIVE FOR 25
“As we all know, Virginia Tech is at its best when we’re all pulling together in the same direction,” Beamer said. “Hokie student-athletes are performing at high levels in the classroom and competition and making alumni and fans proud. Now is the time to show how strong the Hokie spirit is in the commonwealth of Virginia!”

The Paint OUR State initiative is a part of the “Paint the State” campaign the Hokie Club launched at the beginning of the 2017 football season. Weekly membership competitions throughout the season pitted states head-to-head based on comparable state alumni bases and participation numbers.

PAINT THE STATE
Announced in December 2016, the Drive for 25 was launched to increase Hokie Club membership to 25,000 members. The impetus behind the Drive for 25 is to raise the financial resources needed to provide Virginia Tech student-athletes with the opportunities to continue their success in the classroom, in competition and in the community. Since the beginning of the campaign, over 2,200 new members have joined the Hokie Club in support of Hokie student-athletes.
