Tech's SAAC participating in Adopt-A-Family project
Student-athletes on this advisory committee are working with the Salvation Army to collect money that will be used for the purchasing of Christmas gifts for two local families
November 16, 2017
BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech Athletics Department’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is sponsoring an Adopt-A-Family project in conjunction with the Salvation Army and is encouraging Virginia Tech fans to participate, as the holiday season approaches.
For those unaware, the Virginia Tech SAAC is a leadership group consisting of Virginia Tech student-athletes from all sports. This group provides insight on the student-athlete experience and offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes’ lives. SAAC members serve as a conduit of communication among student-athletes, coaches and athletic administrators in an effort to improve the student-athlete experience.
SAAC has adopted two families as part of the Adopt-A-Family project, with the goal of providing each family with a wonderful Christmas. Thus, SAAC is collecting financial donations from those who feel inclined to be a part of this project. The money will be used to purchase clothes, toys for children, food, etc.
The Virginia Tech SAAC started collecting money Wednesday and will accept donations through Nov. 29. There are three ways to contribute:
• Please send cash to Natalie Forbes, senior director of Student-Athlete Development
• Please make checks payable to the VT Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and mail to Natalie Forbes
• Or, please contribute through Venmo. Money can be sent to the account @SAAC-Adopt-A-Family.
For those mailing money or checks, please mail those to Natalie Forbes, 364 Jamerson Athletics Center, 21 Beamer Way, Blacksburg VA 24061.
